Sam has owned 3 boarding facilities over the past 10 years. Sam is a 1st generation kennel owner. Entering the business at the age of 32, Sam turned her passion for dogs and cats into a thriving business.

In 2005 a business rock-bottom lead to Sam needing to change the way she conducted her life and her business….here’s the story

″Christmas 2005 would best be described as my ‘business rock bottom’. It was just terrible and the catalyst for great change, so I’m grateful now for this low point in my life. I had worked myself into the ground. It had been a huge year where I worked 12 months without a real break. I had married my partner during the year, but spent most of our honeymoon worrying about the Pet Resort. My family was looking forward to me having three days off but it turned into a three day anxiety attack.

On the first day, a dog bit someone and then escaped. The team didn’t know what to do and panicked. The customer was understandably distressed and the whole experience was painful for everyone. On the second day of my holiday one of the dogs at the resort died and once again the team didn’t know how to handle it, they were devastated and the customer was distraught. Then on the third day of my break, my bookkeeper called to say she couldn’t pay the wages because there was no money in the bank. Here we were, in the busiest time of the year, and we had no money in the bank AGAIN.

Needless to say I had a terrible Christmas. After this traumatic experience I responded to an advertisement for Red Day Coaching and the 12 month transformation began

In November 2007 profits increased, for that month, by 349% and I work around 20 hours per week. I am a full time mum with 2 great boys and I love that fact that I can be there to take them to school in the morning and be there in the afternoons at 3pm. I take half the school holidays off each year to be with them. My boys had little of my time for the first 5 years of their lives and I don’t intend to keep making the same mistakes”.
